Matt Furness started playing drums at the age of 8 studying the Rockschool exams, which despite the name, feature all kinds of musical genres which has given Matt the experience and ability to play many different styles. He completed his Grade 8 at the age of 14, passing with a distinction.
He has been the resident drummer for the Norwich Jazz Jam since he was 14 years old. The jam is held every Monday in Norwich which enables Matt to play with experienced professional musicians gaining invaluable experience in a jam session without the benefit of extensive preparation. Matt was the drummer for Groovapolitan, a Norwich based funk and disco band, and also for About Them Shoes who played gigs in South Norfolk. He currently plays with The Mojo Preachers and works as a session drummer depping with bands, in addition to performing as a pit musician for musical productions being a competent reader. Recent productions include ‘Grease’, ‘9 to 5’, ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’ ‘Hairspray’ and ‘Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert’. To find out more visit:
